Millennium Elephant Foundation (MEF) A family Run NGO working to improve the lives of domesticated elephants throughout Sri Lanka. Charity number 457.
We provide and fund the care, medical treatments, food, mahout salaries, the running costs of the charity as well as having an on call Mobile Veterinary Unit which travels around the country treating sick elephants in need. We rely on the income from volunteers and tourism to continue the important work we do for these gentle giants.
Home of the exclusive Elephant Walk Experience, A personal safari that allows you to follow the elephant around the 15 acre coconut estate as they foragae and wander and graze as they would in the wild. The alternative to elephant riding option and the most ethical, u close and personal experience you can have with captive elephants in Sri Lanka.
We run an international elephant volunteer program 365 days per year where our team are dedicated to the daily care of our elephants and welcome applicants from all over the world.
